Group holidays in the Yorkshire Dales

Try the chalet experience in Wensleydale

If you have ever stayed in a catered ski chalet, you'll know what we mean. If not, it's simple.

Your group gets exclusive use of the house - but we do the catering. As former ski chalet hosts, we are used to looking after groups of family and friends.

We are now providing the chalet concept at our guest house, The Dales Haven, in Leyburn, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We provide breakfast, afternoon tea and cake and a group evening dinner. A great holiday idea borrowed from the Alps. We're family friendly, so the kids can come too - if you want them to!

How big a group?

Eight to 12 adults.

About us

We worked for two ski seasons in the French Alps, the first in The Three Valleys for a large chalet operator and the second in the Grand Massif for an independent.

Our chalets accommodated 14 - 20 guests and we did all the hard work but managed to go skiing too.

We bought our guest house in Leyburn, Wensleydale, in October 2006 and decided to introduce the chalet concept to attract groups of family and friends.

We are passionate about promoting holidays in England in general and the Yorkshire Dales in particular, an option that can reduce your carbon footprint and help the domestic economy. While people still gravitate to seaside resorts for holidays, inland areas are less well known, but can provide much more for people to do.

About the area

Leyburn is an unspolit North Yorkshire market town known as the gateway to the Yorkshire dales. It is one of those best-kept secrets - a little gem surrounded by some of England's finest countryside.

The area is fabulously rich in what it can offer for people of all ages from sedate strolls to ridiculous theme park rides (yes, we have those too).

You can quite easily spend a week's holiday here. Strike out in any direction and you will find something of interest and plenty to do.

We can't offer you sea and sand but it's amazing that such an area as this is relatively uncrowded. While you might have to fight your way through the crowds in the Lake District or seaside resorts, the Yorkshire Dales offers a gentler, more relaxing place to explore and have fun.
